Tra Italia e Finlandia

Nel centro commerciale Lunagallerian a Södertälje,  non lontano da Stoccolma,  abbiamo potuto ammirare la fontana di Dafne,  creata dalla scultrice Helga Henschen nel 1978.

La particolarita’ di questa faontana e’ che e’ realizzata ineramente in ceramica e naturalmente e’ la piu’ grande scultura in ceramica della Svezia.  L’acqua scorre sulle figure colorate e si raccoglie nella vasca sottostante.

Come vedete,  la fontana si compone di figure di donne,  animali,  fiori.  Nelle intenzioni della scultrice,  la fontana si ispira al mito di Dafne,  ninfa che non volendo cedere al corteggiamento di Apollo,  fu da Giove trasformata in alloro.  Il significato dell’opera era una protesta contro il mondo burocratico,  grigio e robotico che si profilava allora e una voglia di rinascita nella natura.  Le figure femminili rappresentano la forza della vita.

A me a prima vista,  oggi,  la fontana ha convogliato anche l’idea di inclusione:  le figure femminili sono ritratte in quattro colori diversi,  come conferma anche la mattonella  che vedete nella foto sottostante.

Daphne’s Fountain.

At the Lunagallerian shopping center in Södertälje,  not far from Stockholm,  we admired the Daphne Fountain, created by sculptor Helga Henschen in 1978.

This fountain’s unique feature is that it is made entirely of ceramic,  making it the largest ceramic sculpture in Sweden.  Water flows over the colorful figures and collects in the basin below.

As you can see,  the fountain is composed of female figures,  animals,  and flowers.  The sculptor intended the fountain to be inspired by the myth of Daphne,  a nymph who,  refusing to yield to Apollo’s courtship,  was transformed into a laurel tree by Jupiter.  The meaning of the work was a protest against the bureaucratic,  gray,  and robotic world that was emerging at the time and a desire for rebirth in nature.  The female figures represent the strength of life.

To me,  at first glance,  today,  the fountain also conveyed the idea of ​​inclusion:  the female figures are portrayed in four different colors,  as confirmed by the tile you see in the closing photo.
