Tra Italia e Finlandia

Buona domenica!

Oggi ci ascoltiamo una canzone folk che e’ fra le piu’ belle canzoni d’amore mai scritte nella tradizione finlandese.   Il titolo e’:  “Kalliolle,  kukkulalle” e significa:  sulla cima della collina,  sulla roccia.

Narra di un giovane uomo che costruisce la sua casa della vita su una collina e invita la sua giovane donna a seguirlo lassu’.   Il breve testo e’ qui di seguito.  La bellezza di questo brano e’ la dolce melodia cantata a piu’ voci.

Questa canzone fa parte della tradizione popolare e non ha una data di uscita,  ma il cantautore Kaj Chydenius la riscrisse e pubblico’ nel 1972.

Today we’re listening to a folk song that is among the most beautiful love songs ever written in the Finnish tradition.  The title is “Kalliolle, kukkulalle” and means:  on the top of the hill,  on the rock.

It tells the story of a young man who builds his home on a hill and invites his young woman to follow him up there.  The short lyrics are below.  The beauty of this song is the sweet melody sung by many voices.

This song is part of the folk tradition and has no release date,  but singer-songwriter Kaj Chydenius rewrote it and released it in 1972.
