I primi uccelli migratori tornati dopo il lungo inverno,  questa primavera sono stati sorpresi dalla neve ancora abbondante presente al suolo ed hanno avuto molte difficolta’ ad approvvigionarsi di cibo.

Chi ha avuto la fortuna di trovare mangiatoie ben fornite,  come i Merli nelle foto seguenti,  ha avuto maggiori possibilita’ di sopravvivenza.

Altri si sono arrangiati in qualche modo,  come questi Storni,  visti becchettare in un campo.

Solo ora,  dopo la meta’ di Aprile,  il tempo si e’ messo al bello stabile e le temperature diurne sono arrivate a 15 gradi C.  La Natura ha fatto la sua selezione anche in quest’occasione:  solo i piu’ forti sopravvivono.

Gli uccelli comunque “sentono” la mala parata del tempo e a volte si fermano ad aspettare un miglioramento.  Solitamente approfittano di volare quando il vento tira nella direzione giusta.  Infine,  un’ultima considerazione:  chi prima arriva ha piu’ probabilita’ di trovare un posto eccellente in cui nidificare,  anche per questo gli uccelli arrivano sempre nello stesso momento dell’anno e non perdono tempo.

Le Oche lombardelle vanno a nidificare in Lapponia,  ma si fermano qui per uno snack veloce.

Abbiamo visto anche un Airone cinerino – nuovo da queste parti – arrivato per tempo,  che cercava cibo nel tratto di mare ancora parzialmente gelato.

This spring, the earliest migratory birds returned after the long winter were surprised by the still abundant snow on the ground and had problems finding food.  Those lucky enough to find well-stocked mangers,  like the Blackbirds in my photos,  had a better chance of survival.

Others,  like the Starlings in the following shots,  have tried to find food in the snowy fields.

Only now,  in mid-April,  the weather has settled and the daytime temperatures have reached 15 degrees C.  Nature has made its selection once again:  only the strongest survive.

Birds,  however,  “feel” the bad weather conditions and sometimes stop to wait for an improvement.  They usually take advantage of flying when the wind is blowing in the right direction.  Finally,  one last consideration:  whoever arrives first has more chances of finding an excellent place to make their nest,  also for this reason birds always arrive at the same time of the year and try to earn time.

The Greater white-fronted goose will nest in Lapland;  they just stop here for a snack.

Finally:  we saw even a Grey heron – unusual bird here – trying to grasp something in the still partly frozen sea.

  4. Curioso davvero un airone cenerino lì!
    Che bella l’allegra compagnia dello snack 🙂
    Anche qui c’è una famigliola di merli che ha scelto la siepe del palazzo come casa. La merlotta in particolare viene spesso sull’angolo del nostro balcone per i suoi comizi. Ormai ci siamo affezionati.
    Riguardo alla lotta degli animali per la sopravvivenza in generale io patisco sempre anche se so che la Natura ha, e deve avere, il suo equilibrio.
