Please scroll down for English language.DSCN2639DSCN2641Un bel giorno d’autunno ho giocato a nascondino anche con una Pernice variopinta e grassoccia….

Ma anche stavolta ha vinto lei!  (Come gia’ fece il leprotto.)

La pernice che vive in Finlandia e’ la Bonasa bonasia,  un uccello stanziale che nidifica in tutta l’Eurasia settentrionale nei boschi di conifere.   La sua livrea e’ piuttosto colorata,  permettendole un buon mimetismo.

Non e’ un uccello di grandi dimensioni  (ha un’apertura alare di circa 50cm) e non e’ un gran volatore.  Raramente l’ho vista sugli alberi:  il suo posto e’ a terra,  seminascosta fra le piantine di mirtilli.

Complici i colori meravigliosi del foliage autunnale,  le foto mi sono venute particolarmente gradevoli.

A Big Fat Hen.

On a beautiful autumn day I also played hide and seek with a colorful and plump Partridge….

But once again he won!   (As the hare already did.)

The partridge that lives in Finland is the Bonasa bonasia,  a sedentary bird that nests in coniferous forests throughout northern Eurasia.  Its livery is quite colorful,  allowing it a good camouflage. 

It is not a big bird (it has a wingspan of about 50cm) and it is not a great flier.  I have rarely seen it on trees:  its place is on the ground,  half hidden among the blueberry seedlings. 

Thanks to the wonderful colors of the autumn foliage,  my photos are particularly pleasant.
