Oggi vi propongo l’osservazione di un aspetto essenziale della nostra vita quotidiana e immancabile nel paesaggio,  ma che spesso nonostante la mole e l’altezza passa inosservato perche’ scontato:  l’acquedotto. 

Nelle foto qui sopra tre esempi di acquedotti italiani tradizionali,  cui siamo abituati.  Nelle foto seguenti alcuni acquedotti fotografati in alcuni posti della Finlandia:  decisamente diversi.

Non sembrano quasi UFO in atterraggio sulle citta’?  Quest’ultimo e’ quello di Kuusamo.

L’acquedotto di Halikko,  turrito e situato proprio sopra la chiesa,  sembra un castello.

Infine,  il pittoresco istmo di Punkaharju,  nell’est Finlandia.

Per la cronaca,  date le nuove tecnologie,  oggi non si costruiscono piu’ le cisterne sopraelevate ma si fa circolare l’acqua con un sistema di pompe.

Water Towers.

Today I want to bring to your attention a necessary aspect in our daily life and an unmistakable element in our landscapes:  water towers.  They do not usually catch our eye because we give them for granted.

In the first three shots above, you will see water towers in the current Italian style.

In the remaining shots,  you can appreciate Finnish water towers,  which are quite different.  To me they look like UFO ready to land onto the towns.

The water tower of Kuusamo is quite modern;  the aerial view shows you a part of Helsinki;  the red building which looks like a castle is in Halikko,  just a few steps up from the church;  the last one is in Punkaharju,  the picturesque isthmus in east-Finland.

As a matter of fact,  today huge tanks as these are no longer necessary:  advanced technological systems pump and supply water for towns.

  17. davvero extraterrestri questi acquedotti! Chissà come mai avranno fatto queste strane costruzioni, mi viene da pensare a qualcosa legato al gelo dei mesi invernali, ma potrebbe essere per altri motivi….🤔
