Sentieri.

Lo sapevate che gli animali selvatici si muovono nei boschi seguendo piu’ o meno sempre gli stessi sentieri?   Si,  gli animali sono piuttosto abitudinari e percorrono gli stessi tracciati che imparano a conoscere da piccoli;  non solo gli animali delle foreste finlandesi,  naturalmente,  ma anche quelli delle savane e persino i ricci che vediamo qualche volta investiti dalle auto sulle strade. 

Quando vedete un sentiero apparentemente impervio nei boschi,  quindi,  dove vi sembra che nessun essere umano vi sia mai passato,  probabilmente e’ un sentiero che gli animali si tengono aperto per la loro comodita’.  Come quelli che vedete in queste mie foto.

Questa loro abitudinarieta’ e’ un vantaggio perche’ cosi’ facendo conoscono bene il loro territorio,  ma anche uno svantaggio perche’ agevola talvolta il lavoro dei predatori,  cacciatori compresi.

In questa foto vedete una strada in costruzione nei dintorni di Turku:  il tunnel non e’ necessario,  perche’ non c’e’ alcuna montagna,  e’ fatto solo per agevolare il passaggio degli animali al di sopra,  infatti si trova proprio lungo uno dei loro sentieri.  Una volta finito verra’ ricoperto di terreno e sara’ agibile.

Una di queste vie battute dagli animali selvatici si trova nella nostra foresta e talvolta vi piazzo la mia fototrappola e “becco” qualche cerbiatto…

Paths. 

You probably know that wild animals move through the forests following more or less the same paths.  They learn paths and trails when they are young and keep using them.  It is their habit.  Therefore when you see a demanding path where no humans could apparently go because too uncomfortable,  then it is probably a pathway which animals keep open for themselves.  Just like the ones in my shots.

Not only forest animals behave like that,  but also Savanna animals or even the poor hedgehogs that we sometimes see run over by cars on our roads.   This behaviour is advantageous for them,  because they know their territory so well,  but it somehow helps predators too,  including human hunters. 

In the photo above you can see a road under construction in the surroundings of Turku:  the tunnel is not necessary,  because there is no mountain,  it is only made to help the passage of the animals above,  being located right along one of their paths.  Once finished it will be covered with soil and will be accessible.

I have an advantage as well:  one of these paths is in our forest,  therefore I can place my trail-cam there and get “preys”…

  8. Actually it is not. You should imagine deer, foxes and the like cross the road from left to right being already in the highest point, on top of the rocks. That’s why the structure is there, because their trail is there. 🙂

  11. anche una foto trappola! Pazzesco, ormai sei una reporter di viaggio tipo national geografic 😉 Davvero belli questi scatti, ci fai vivere le emozioni del grande nord, e ci fai anche riflettere sulla vita degli animali e sulle loro sconosciute abitudini… 😉

  22. We see a lot of deer trails in the forest and now we are calling them game trails because of all the different animals that use them. The wild hogs really make a wide path! Enjoy your weekend!

  30. Beautiful photos, I love the slideshow of the little deer! We have a lot of game trails in the woods around here too…I think in the spring I may put my trail camera up there in hopes that nobody finds it and steals it!!
