Siamo alle 22.30 del 27 luglio 2019: nel pieno di un’ondata di caldo e di siccita’ che opprime la natura finlandese. (Quella del 2019 sara’ una delle estati piu’ siccitose di sempre).
In questi giorni i notiziari hanno messo in guardia gli automobilisti: qualche animale, anche di grossa taglia, potrebbe spostarsi piu’ del solito per cercare da bere e quindi potrebbe attraversare la strada all’improvviso…attenzione!
Nelle mie foto ci troviamo in mezzo ai campi di grano e avena: un alce, purtroppo ad enorme distanza da me, attraversa con disinvoltura i raccolti e si immerge nel fosso a rinfrescarsi.
E’ rimasto immerso per parecchio tempo, tanto che me ne sono andata via. Aveva caldo e sete.

My shots were taken on July 27th, 2019. It was 10.30 p.m. on a very warm night. We were just in the middle of a hot air wave which brought onto Finland high temperatures, drought and suffering for nature. (Summer 2019 was one of the driest ever, actually). Newspapers had warned car drivers: beware animals crossing the road all of a sudden to look for somewhere to drink!
This elk was probably thirsty as well; I saw him just walk through the corn and oats fields, reach a ditch and get into it completely to find refreshment. He stayed there for long time, so I went away…and anyway he was too far for my camera.
