A month in my photos:
In June we finally got back all our freedom of movement, at least in Europe.
In Italy the weather played foul tricks: lovely, warm and sunny days during the lockdown were now followed by thunderstorms, heavy rainfalls and low temperatures. The hail damaged our farming somewhere.
On the contrary, Finland was blessed with the bursting out of spring: warm and sunny days helped nature to wear its greenest attire decorated with trees, flowers and luminous sunsets. We were even blessed with the hottest Midsummer in decades, with temperatures up to 33C (91.4F) – even too largely blessed. 🙂
I finally succeeded in travelling to Finland after the re-opening of borders within Schengen countries. At the moment I have to observe a 14-days’ voluntary quarantine at home, as recommended (but not controlled) by the Finnish government. Here in Somero, our town, there haven’t been any covid cases for a long time and it is actually easy to forget it all, as we are living among woodlands, fields, singing birds and vast horizons, with very low density of population. In Finland the pandemic was quite slow; as far as the 25th June the situation was as follows: total cases 7191; in hospital 22; in intensive care 2; dead 327. I remind everybody that the total population in Finland amounts to 5.5 million, in a territory roughly as large as Italy and the lockdown was not total. Schools have been reopened for the terminating two weeks with distancing and no self-service in the canteens. You always need also a bit of good luck…
I’d like to contradict the news that airline companies have increased the cost of tickets as a consequence of the economical crisis: I flew with Italian Air Dolomiti in connection with German Lufthansa and I paid the same amount as pre-covid. Moreover, so far as next December you can change your bookings without any rebooking fee on Lufthansa.
Among my monthly readings, I appreciated the novel: “Strangers” by Japanese writer Taichi Yamada. A powerful portrait of urban alienation and solitude. The atmosphere is dream-like, almost nightmarish. On the whole an interesting and engaging reading.
Thanks for your constant presence, dear readers, and welcome to the new followers!

June was indeed quite unbelievable in Finland, so warm, so sunny!
True, it’s quite easy to stay in quarantine in Finland, we are so few, in Somero and also here in Helsinki!
Have a wonderful July!

Hello dear Luisella and greetings from the stormy Eastern Finland! 🙂 We were without electricity for about 16 hours and we have been lucky – many, many families still need to wait to have back the energy supply and mobile network.
Your June looks wonderful. The cat, the salad, the flowers and beaches…
Welcome back to Finland! 🙂 Soon the travelling between Italy and Finland should become easier. Lets hope the situation stays good and no new restrictions will be needed.
Stay safe and well! 🤗

Thank you. The same to you! What a pity the black-out…even if it is summer, it is very unpleasant.
