Un mese nelle mie foto:

Maggio è stato molto bello in Italia, dal punto di vista atmosferico perchè ci ha regalato moltissimi giorni di sole e dal punto di vista psicologico perchè abbiamo riacquistato una parziale libertà di movimento. 

In Finlandia invece è stato piuttosto freddo,  con discesa di venti da nord che hanno portato gelate dovunque e talvolta spruzzatine di neve.  Abbiamo dovuto attendere fine mese per piantare le patate,  perchè prima la terra non era completamente sghiacciata.

La situazione sanitaria attualmente in Italia è la seguente:  casi totali 232248;  ricoverati 7094;  in terapia intensiva 475;  deceduti 33229.  Si stanno riaprendo gradualmente tutte le attività,  inclusi i confini di stato.

Mentre in Finlandia,  dove il contagio è stato meno aggressivo,  a tutto il 29 maggio in totale abbiamo avuto 6776 casi;  74 ricoverati;  10 in terapia intensiva;  314 deceduti.  Ricordo che la Finlandia ha praticato un parziale lockdown separando la zona di Helsinki dal resto del Paese,  ma che ristoranti e bar erano chiusi,  scuole chiuse e molte altre attività chiuse.

Sarà interessante analizzare i risultati nel lungo periodo e vedere chi ha avuto risultati migliori,  se chi come noi e la Finlandia ha praticato la segregazione o chi come la Svezia non ha mai chiuso nulla,  limitandosi a fornire raccomandazioni di comportamento ai cittadini e inseguendo l’immunità di gregge.  Al momento la Svezia conta 4266 deceduti.

Una parola sulle mie letture del mese,  che sono state un po’ a senso unico:  mi sono capitati in mano due libri dello scrittore giapponese Koji Suzuki che sono uno il sequel dell’altro e che si intitolano:  Ring e Loop.  Sono due cyber-thrillers che parlano della diffusione di un terribile virus…

A Month in my Photos:

May was a beautiful month in Italy,  where the weather was mostly sunny and warm and where we finally got back some freedom after the long lockdown.

In Finland,  on the contrary,  May was quite cold.  Winds blew from north and carried often snow dustings and nighttime frost.  We had to wait until the end of May to plant our potatoes.

At the moment,  the pandemic situation in Italy is as follows:  total infected 232248;  in hospital 7094;  in intensive care 475;  dead 33229.  Italy is gradually reopening all activities,  including borders.

Whereas in Finland the epidemic spread much slowlier and at the moment we have 6776 infected;  74 in hospital;  10 in intensive care;  314 dead.  The Finnish government chose a light lockdown,  isolating just the area of Helsinki from the rest of the country.  A lot of activities were anyway closed,  such as restaurants,  bars  schools…

It will be interesting to analize the final data in the long run and see who did better:  if Italy and Finland who closed for some time or on the contrary Sweden,  who did not close anything and just gave correct behaviour recommendations to their citizens,  pursuing the herd immunity.  At the moment Sweden has 4266 dead people.

A word about my readings this month.  I happened to read two cyber-thrillers by Japanese writer Koji Suzuki:  Ring and Loop,  which are part of a trilogy revolving around the spread of a terrible virus…

  7. Finally it seems that summer has come to Finband! I wish you all the best for June & the summer. Let’s hope the pandemic slows down in Italy and the world and the circumstances normalize even a bit more. Best regards – riitta

  18. Speriamo in bene per tutti quanti… per quanto riguarda le tue letture mi sembrano ad hoc visto il periodo, mi auguro che , almeno nei thrillers , il virus si “autodistrugga”

  25. You have quite a contrast in weather between Italy and Finland, which is not surprising. Nevertheless, both countries are very beautiful in their own way. Analysing the pandemic statistics is not easy, but those who have lost their lives and the relatives they leave behind are remembered continually. Best wishes to you and yours.
