True blue poppies. This kind of ornamental poppy is commonly cultivated in Finnish gardens: it resists very well the rigid winter climate and likes to be in a woodland soil. The name of the extraordinary variety in blue is: Himalayan blue Poppy, in Finnish: Sinivaleunikko (Meconopsis betonicifolia); its beauty is unique.
The variety in orange is quite fascinating as well. I shot them when already ahead of flowering, but nature, as well as life, is like that: not always in order, fit, tidy, ready…
(I shot them in Marketanpuisto, a public garden not far from Helsinki).

Buon sabato!

The blue poppy is very lovely. I wonder if they would grow here in England? I guess so but I have never seen them.

These are two colors of poppies I have not seen yet (the same flower as the “state flower” of California – each state in the USA has a flower representing them). The orange will be one of the flowers I will post coming weeks:) Here the red and the white ones are also common. Gorgeous and so interesting for All Seasons, Luisella! Have a fantastic week!
