Sul Tione.

Se foste stati con me a passeggiare lungo il parco del fiume Tione,  in Villafranca di Verona,  nel pomeriggio assolato di un giorno di inizio ottobre,  ecco che cosa avreste visto:

  1.  Un gattino acciambellato che dormiva in mezz’ombra; 

2.  Tante farfalle:  una Vanessa Atalanta travestita da Batman…

3.  Una Megera,  che brutta non è,  ma le hanno dato questo nome…

4.  Immancabili i Germani:  ma che graziose piume azzurre spuntano da sotto le ali!…

5.  Una Ballerina gialla,  con le zampette sempre a mollo…

6.  I girasoli,  maturi a fine stagione…

7.  I fiori dei Topinambur,  anche loro tipicamente autunnali…

8.  Altri animaletti,  come grilli e chioccioline…

9.  Le verdi colline di Custoza in lontananza,  coltivate a vigneti…

10.  Altre farfalle:  coloratissime o sapientemente mimetizzate per godersi in pace l’ultimo sole…

11.  E chiudiamo con lei,  sempre la piu’ bella:  la Vanessa Occhio di Pavone.

Anche in un ristretto parco cittadino si trova tanta vita:  basta che ci sia un po’ d’acqua a disposizione:  teniamola cara.  Piaciuta la passeggiata?

Along the River Tione.      

f you had been with me in my walk along the Tione river in Villafranca di Verona on a sunny afternoon at the start of October,  here is what you would have seen:  (Click to open)

  1.  A pretty cat,  sleeping in the half-shade…
  2.  A lot of different butterflies:  a Red Admiral,  or Batman in disguise?
  3.  A Lasiommata Megera,  basking in the sun…
  4.  With legs always in the water:  the Grey Wagtail…
  5.  Mallard ducks,  of course!  How nice light blue feathers they have…
  6.  Some ripe sunflowers,  at season ending…
  7.  The beautiful Topinambour flowers,  yellow as smaller sunflowers…
  8.  Various other smaller animals,  like crickets or snails…
  9.  The green hills of Custoza with vineyards as far as the eye can see…
  10.  And again butterflies,  colourful and in camouflage…
  11.  Finally,  the most beautiful of all:  the Peacock butterfly.

Even in the restricted area of a city park you can find a lot of life,  when water is available.  Let’s take care of it.  How did you like my stroll?

  16. Bellissima passeggiata davvero! In una gita scolastica della Scuola Media ho proprio visitato quei luoghi:Custoza, Solferino e San Martino , per via delle Guerre d’Indipendenza , ma ricordo che mi era piaciuto il paesaggio in due belle giornate di Maggio.
