Il Fistione turco (Netta rufina) e’ una bella anatra colorata diffusa in tutta l’Europa occidentale, originaria pero’ delle aree della Turchia e del mar Nero. Nidifica anche nel lago di Garda. Il maschio e’ particolarmente appariscente: con quella sua testa arrotondata e quel bellissimo becco rosso, sembra quasi un uccello esotico; la femmina ha colori piu’ discreti. E’ una specie silenziosa e si nutre soprattutto di piante acquatiche, per cui sta maggiormante in superficie rispetto alle altre anatre tuffatrici. Nelle foto qui sopra, una coppia sta riposando sulle acque calme come uno specchio.

The Red-crested pochard (Netta rufina) is a beautiful duck originally from the area of Turkey and the Black Sea, nowadays scattered population breeds in western Europe. Since the 1990s it has been living in lake Garda. The male is unmistakable: its round head and its red bill make him look like an exotic bird, the female has more discreet colours. This duck feeds mainly on water plants and is quite silent. In the first photos above, a couple is resting in the calm water with a mirroring effect.
