La stella della foresta.

Si chiama cosi’ questo minuscolo fiorellino bianco che costella i boschi finlandesi.  E’ meraviglioso pensare che nella semi-oscurita’ del sottobosco possano sbocciare e vivere i fiori:  al di sotto dei grandi alberi,  al di sotto delle piantine di mirtilli,  basse ma folte…eppure ce ne sono parecchi,  che vi mostrero’ pian piano. 

A giugno,  in alcuni punti del bosco,  si cammina su un tappeto di…stelle.  Metsätähti.  (Trientalis europaea).

Questo delicato fiorellino è diffusissimo nel nostro ed anche nel continente Americano,  specie nelle zone umide del sottobosco ad altitudini subalpine.  In italiano si chiama:  Centonchio europea.

Forest star.           

Metsätähti:  it is how the Finns call this small wild flower that you find in local forests.  Its common name in English is:  Arctic starflower (Trientalis europaea).   Sometimes in June in some parts of the forest,  you will walk on a carpet of…stars.

It is amazing how flowers can survive in the darkness of the undergrowth:  under the big trees and under the small but thick blueberry plants.  There are a variety of flowers in the forest,  which I will show you with time.

The Arctic starflower is widespread all over Europe and North America,  preferably in wet habitats from low to subalpine elevations.  German name:  Siebenstern.
