Segnali di montagna.

Prima di tutto questo post e’ un invito a visitare le nostre montagne,  perche’ lassu’ il mondo cambia:  si trovano aria buona,  cucina gustosa,  tipicita’ uniche,  panorami mozzafiato,  diversa flora e fauna,  aspetti che non avremmo mai visto altrove.  Sono convinta che nel nostro Paese non sia bello solo il mare,  anche sui monti ci sono tramonti eclatanti e albe abbaglianti.  E che dire del verde dei boschi?  Rigenerante almeno quanto il blu del mare.  Insomma un diverso ecosistema,  spesso piu’ sostenibile.  Ovviamente anche con diversi segnali stradali...questa e’ la curiosita’ di oggi,  specialmente per gli amici finlandesi:

Questo e’ fra i piu’ eclatanti:  segnala pendenza fino al 19 per cento e banchina cedevole.  Fotografato sul Monte Baldo (Verona).

Questo e’ fra i piu’ usuali:  segnala una curva particolarmente secca con dislivello.

Anche questo rientra nella normalita’:  segnala strada scivolosa in caso di neve o ghiaccio.

Questo rientra in quelli piu’ pittoreschi:  animali al pascolo che potrebbero invadere la strada.

Questi sono i piu’ tipici:  attraversamento animali in corsa.  Ricordano i segnali di attraversamento alci che si trovano lungo le strade finlandesi.

Infine,  ma non meno importante,  pericolo di frane o caduta massi.

Vorrei comunque rassicurare tutti:  le strade di montagna sono generalmente asfaltate ed in buono stato di percorribilita’,  in alcune regioni perfino eccellente e sono coperte dal segnale GPS per l’uso dei  navigatori satellitari.  Ultima cosa da tenere presente:  in Italia le montagne sono dappertutto – dalle Alpi agli Appennini, all’entroterra di Calabria,  Sicilia e Sardegna.  Che aspettate a prenotare?

Mountain Road-Signs.   

Before all other things,  this post is an invitation to visit the mountains in Italy,  from the Dolomites in the east to the rest of Alps in the west of Italy,  to the Appennines down to the south.  Because it is a world apart:  you will find fine air,  perfumes of different flowers,  different animals which you could not see elsewhere;  good food,  typical products and outstanding panoramas,  gorgeous sunsets and bright sunrises.  The green colour of the forests is as regenerating as the blue sea. Is it often a more sustainable environment.  Italy is not only seaside and Mediterranean culture,  there is a lot to discover in the north.  Even different road signs,  a curiosity especially for my Finnish readers…

The first in this list will tell that your road is going to be up to 19 percent steep and that your roadway verge may be soft.   The second is the most widespread:  it warns about a sharp curve with difference in altitude: a hairpin turn.  Then comes the warning about slippery road in case of snow or ice.  The fourth is among the most picturesque:  grazing animals may be coming to the road,  whereas the fifth warns about running animals crossing your way;  it reminds of the elk crossing signs that you can find in Finland.  Last but not least:  danger of land slides or stones falling onto the road.

Finally,  I would like to reassure everyone about road conditions in mountain areas;  there are generally well kept asphalt roads,  covered by the GPS signal for the use of navigators.  As I already said,  you will find mountains in every part of Italy – from Alps to Appennines,  to the inland of Calabria,  Sicily and Sardinia.  Everyone’s invited!

  1. Beautiful mountains behind your traffic signs. The cows and especially the deers (?) brought smile on my face. I watch a lot of tennis. The light haired Andreas Seppi from northern Italy looks quite different from the southern & dark Fabio Fognini with a hot and easy boiling temperament 🙂

  7. Road signs are an important way to communicate what surprises might be in store when driving in the mountains such as straying animals! We enjoy going up into the high mountains in our region of Italy. The scenery is spectacular and the air fresh and cooling especially in the heat of the Summer. Wishing you a happy day!

Non ho visto l’Italia intera nemmeno tutta la parte settentrionale, ma per quanto ho visto non posso che confermare che si può incontrare una buona cucina e prodotti originali che a volte si possono incontrare fuori dall’Italia ma molte volte sono falsi. Quindi sì, vale la pena visitare l’Italia e le Alpi sono davvero fantastiche.

  22. Living in the mountains one gets used to these signs, but can imagine when one is not, these signs may make it a little intimidating to drive in the mountains:) Great post for All Seasons, and certainly worth the experience! Have a lovely week!

  26. About 23 years ago I had the opportunity to stay for a week in a town north of the Aviano Air Base. I loved the mountain air. It was what I needed at the time. The traffic sign that intrigued me the most was the one of a car horn with a line drawn through it.
