Una notte fuori.

Una delle attivita’ piu’ amate tra i finlandesi per stare all’aria aperta e’ senz’altro il campeggio.  Tutto il Paese e’ disseminato di campeggi attrezzatissimi (persino di sauna),  per andarci in tenda,  bungalows o camper.  Ma oltre a questo,  ai finlandesi piace dormire fuori anche solo per una notte,  un weekend all’aria aperta e lo possono fare persino in alcuni parchi nazionali,  anch’essi attrezzati per pic-nic,  aree apposite per accendere il fuoco,  dove arrostire salsicce o farsi il caffe’ con tanto di scorta di legna.  In queste foto vedete un gruppo di persone che bivaccano nel parco di Liesjärvi:  nella foto sopra stanno preparandosi la cena attorno al fuoco,  nelle foto sotto vedete le loro tende.

Una panoramica del lago.  Immaginate una serena notte d’ estate,  con tutto attorno solo la compagnia degli uccellini che cinguettano…e in estate il concerto dura a lungo,  perche’ il buio arriva tardissimo o non arriva affatto:  a Somero a meta’ maggio l’oscurita’ inizia dopo le 23!

Nel parco ci sono sentieri segnati e percorsi:  durante il giorno si fa trekking,  canoa,  birdwatching o altre attivita’ (magari per smaltire le salsicce!).  Le auto rimangono nel parcheggio.

Infine,  un assaggio di tramonto.  Posso anche consigliarvi un libro da portare e leggere durante il lungo crepuscolo:  “Il mondo di Sofia” del norvegese Jostein Gaarder.  Fra le altre avventure di Sofia,  si parla anche di un’esperienza fuori come questa.

An open air Night.      

If you like camping,  in Finland you have lots of possibilities:  everywhere in the country there are well equipped camping sites (equipped even with sauna!),  to spend your holidays in a tent,  bungalow or camper.   Finnish people like going camping and enjoy their nature;  they like even sleeping out only one night in the weekend and they can do it even in some national parks.  For instance the one in my photos:  Liesjärvi,  where special structures are available,  such as a fireplace with a supply of wood,  a pic-nic area and a place for your tent.  In the photos above,  you can see a group of jolly campers making their dinner;  I shot their tents too. 

In the following photos:  a view of the lake.  Just imagine how silent and enjoyable a night like this can be:  only singing birds will be your soundtrack…but be aware this soundtrack will last long:  in the north night comes very late or not at all:  in Somero darkness starts after 11.00 p.m. at mid-May.

In the park you can do various activities:  trekking,  canoeing,  birdwatching or else;  your car will remain in the car park.  In the last photos:  sunset at the lake and a Canada goose who will sleep out with you.

Long time ago I read a novel by a norwegian writer,  where among other things,  a night experience like this was told:  “Sophie’s World” by Jostein Gaarder.

  4. I can feel the silence and tranquility – great post & shots – so Finnish 🙂 But camping is not my thing. I have slept in a tent last time as a child, so it was long ago. Do you live in Somero, the city of Badding? It is such a beautiful place with all the many mansions and cornfields!

  11. Hello, we used to camp a lot when we were younger. Now I prefer a bed. I do love the pretty scene, lovely sunsets.

  12. Hello Eileen, my husband used to camp as a young man, as well, as a real Finn! Now he prefers his bed too. I am not fond of camping, but I love trekking, hiking, walking, biking… Thank you very much. Have a good weekend you too!

  14. No, noi abbiamo camminato, visto un po’ di animali, fotografato e poi siamo tornati a casa a dormire nel nostro lettino. Ma quelli che sono rimasti fuori si devono essere divertiti parecchio… Ciao cara!

  38. Dormire nella natura è rigenerante e suggestivo. In alta montagna, in zone disabitate, io l’ho fatto con gli scout ma avrei paura a farlo in piccoli gruppi.
    Ho letto degli uccelli che cinguettano e mi sto chiedendo: loro riescono a dormire con la luce??? Scusa ma questo fatto della luce a mezzanotte mi incuriosisce troppo!!!

  39. La luce a mezzanotte e’ una cosa DA VEDERE, non si puo’ spiegare, anche perche’ ognuno reagisce in modo diverso. Io per esempio devo dormire al buio…percio’ le prime volte buttavo coperte sulle finestre. Ora abbiamo degli scuri seri. Gli uccelli cantano fino a tardi e poi anche loro dormono.
