Danze d’amore.

E’ certamente primavera quando gli svassi maggiori (Podiceps cristatus) mettono in atto la danza di corteggiamento.  Questi due li ho notati mentre riposavano a pelo d’acqua;  ad un certo punto,  però,  si sono scossi dalla posizione di riposo,  si sono avvicinati,  disposti uno di fronte all’altro ed hanno iniziato a scuotere ritmicamente la testa,  ad alzarla ed abbassarla,  a girarla in direzioni opposte agitando le loro creste… Dopo qualche minuto,  forse disturbati dai turisti che hanno attirato con il loro balletto sincrono,  hanno smesso.  Peccato!  Io ho scattato qualche foto…

Love dance.           It is certainly spring when the Great Crested Grebes (Podiceps cristatus)  do their love dancing.  I noticed these two individuals while they were lazily swaying in the water;  all at once they sprang up from the resting position,  got closer,  set themselves one in front of the other and started moving their heads up and down,  turning to opposite directions,  shaking and swelling their crests.  Unfortunately the dance did not las for long time,  perhaps because too many people were watching and disturbing them,  so I could take only a few photos…
