Gabbiani e Cormorani.

Gabbiani e cormorani  (Phalacrocorax carbo)  sono parte della fauna che piu’ frequentemente si incontra sul Garda.  In passato pensavo che i cormorani fossero uccelli di mare e che si cibassero del pesce di mare,  ma ho scoperto che non disdegnano il pesce d’acqua dolce.  Ho anche scoperto che le loro piume sono permeabili,  per questo passano molto tempo ad asciugarsele al sole;  ecco la ragione per cui si vedono spesso questi uccelli ad ali aperte sui pali:  chi non li ha mai notati nella laguna Veneta?

Seagulls and Cormorants.     Both seagulls and cormorants  (Phalacrocorax carbo)  are very frequently viewed at lake Garda, nowadays.  In the past I thought cormorants were sea birds,  but I have found out that they can eat fresh waters fish as well.  I have also discovered that their feathers are not waterproof,  so they must spend time sitting in the sunlight to dry them up;  for this reason it is not uncommon to see them on top of poles with open wings:  who hasn’t met them in the Venetian Lagoon?

  9. The black bird is obviously the King:) (sorry don’t know the English name for this bird. And the meek gull being the patient butler:)
    Smile, there is an advantage imagining thing when not exactly understanding one or the other language (not your fault – google is very literal, which sometimes makes for strange sentences).   15. Belli? No. Interessanti? Certamente. 😀
    Non ci sono animali buoni e animali cattivi, ma a me i cormorani non piacciono. È brutto vedere le zone, ormai anche in Finlandia, dove gli alberi, interamente ricoperti di guano, muoiono. Naturalmente faccio tifo per l’aquila di mare. 🙂

  18. Hai ragione anche tu, Sara! Conosco le situazioni di cui parli. Forse dovrebbe intervenire l’uomo per tenere sotto controllo il numero di individui, come si fa con cervi, alci?? Pero’ almeno le foto mi sono venute bene!! Ciao cara!
