Segnali d’autunno.

L’estate finlandese e’ breve e gia’ a fine agosto si sente nell’aria l’autunno. In Italia settembre e’ ancora un mese estivo, ma qui non piu’. L’autunno si fa avanti piano piano, dando precisi segnali… per esempio:

Sarebbe anche troppo facile dire che sta arrivando l’autunno quando le foglie cambiano colore e cadono dagli alberi…

L’autunno in Finlandia e’ annunciato anche dalle prime nebbioline, che pero’ quasi sempre scompaiono in mattinata. Qui il fenomeno della nebbia non e’ mai consistente, come lo conosciamo bene noi padani…

Si sta avvicinando l’autunno quando le messi sono mature e pronte per il raccolto, che qui al nord avviene nel mese di agosto…

Volendo cercare altri segnali d’autunno, per esempio quando i bei fiori selvatici di Garofanino dei boschi sfioriscono e rimangono solo le loro sementi nel vento, e’ autunno…

E’ sicuramente autunno quando fiorisce questa splendida ortensia, che qui chiamano: Syyshortensia, cioe’: Ortensia autunnale…

E’ sicuramente settembre quando vola la seconda generazione della splendida Vanessa Antiopa, la cui prima generazione sfarfalla a maggio… (ma si distingue dalla seconda per il diverso colore della striscia sul bordo ali)…

Parlando ancora di animali, si vede che arriva l’autunno quando qualcuno cerca di entrare nelle nostre case: ragnetti o falene…o qualche topolino di campagna…

Parlando di noi umani, e’ autunno quando chi va a far trekking nei boschi non si porta piu’ la borraccia d’acqua, ma il thermos di caffelatte e magari una bella fetta di crostata al rabarbaro…

E’ sicuramente autunno quando la pioggerellina fina fina non smette di cadere e magari ti sorprende mentre sei a fare trekking nei boschi: ecco perche’ il caffe’ caldo e la crostata…

Signs of Autumn.

Summer is rather brief in Finland and autumn creeps up at your door already at the end of August. In Italy the month of September is still a warm summer month, but not here. In Finland you can smell autumn in the air by precise signs. For instance: well, it is too easy to mention that autumn is on its way when leaves fall from trees…

Autumn is on its way when in the morning the landscape is hooded in fog. Luckily it generally disappears during the day; fog is never so severe here…

It is autumn when cereals are ready to be cropped: here harvest is in August…

In autumn wild flowers, for instance the Fireweed, have lost their bloom and only their seeds are left in the wind…

It is surely autumn when the gorgeous PeeGee hydrangea blooms, the “Autumn hortensia” as the Finns call it…

It is surely September when the second generation of the beautiful Mourning Cloak flies; the first generation of this splendid butterfly flies in May, but differs from the second by the wings edge colour…

Talking about animals, it is autumn when some of them try to come into our houses: spiders, night butterflies or some tiny wood mouse…

It feels like autumn when trekkers go to forests with a warm thermos bottle of caffelatte instead of a water bottle…maybe accompanied by a slice of rhubarb pie…

We can say it is definitely autumn when thin rain starts falling and continues all day long surprising you when you are trekking in the forest…that’s why you must have warm caffelatte and cake!
